About us

“Path to Success Schools” was founded in 2009. It is a private education institution the stated purpose of which is to bring quality, bilingual (English & French) early childhood & primary education to young children both Rwandese & expatriate. It welcomes children aged 18 months to 12 years within a 5-level program.

The school is situated in both Kiyovu, Nyarugenge District (Pre-school section) and in Kimihurura, Gasabo District (Primary section) in Kigali City. It is well regarded as a “school of love & caring” by the community it serves. Its founder, Mrs Salila Machiels, a passionate educator, has been involved in creative early childhood education in both Asia and West & East Africa for the past 30 years.

The PTS focus is for each student to develop their full academic, social, emotional & spiritual potential. We recognize all students are differently able and as such our school caters as well for academically strong students as for students who have specific learning needs. Members of Staff are loving, caring, highly motivated, and well skilled. Their collective and collaborative efforts are focused on the individual child — providing him/her with learning opportunities to access and engage with an appropriately challenging curriculum. The curriculum provides an academically balanced educational program with a focus on each student achieving their holistic personal best in the vital skills associated with literacy and numeracy. With demonstrated high expectations being the norm for staff and students, we at Path to Success are committed to the notion of continuous improvement. Staff routinely access quality professional learning opportunities to keep abreast of contemporary educational developments and to further develop their extensive educational knowledge and skills.

The Path to Success Business plan 2018 – 2022 outlines what we aim to achieve as part of this new epoch in our school’s life, marked by the acquisition of our new campus in Kigarama (Kichukiro District) in Spring 2018, and how we will go about this. It outlines for all in the community our vision for the future, the directions and strategies we will take, and our commitment to achieving these objectives. The Business Plan will be regularly reviewed to ensure our efforts continue to be directed towards areas of need to improve students’ outcomes.
